They all accept so easily,
The explanation they hear from me,
It's easier to breathe relief,
Allow a night of peaceful sleep,

It's far more simple just to ignore,
Why they're there and what they're for,
Than to risk diving in too deep,
And put at risk a night of peaceful sleep,

I'm breathing every breath with fear,
In case they're seen by someone who cares,
Someone who'll see right past,
The reason that I give too fast,
That's where all the trouble starts,
When you start hurting other hearts,

Even if somebody saw,
And chose for once not to ignore,
There's nothing they could do for me,
Nothing that would set me free,

Being forced away from my vent,
Would kill the small calm I'm lent,
And blind the small sense I can see,
Which will not set me free,

I'm wearing a jumper in the heat,
Trying to quiet my loud heartbeat,
The heart that's barely coping now,
But knows it has to mend somehow,
Avoiding letting trouble start,
Edging away from other hearts.
