I Knew Nothing, by thndrhwk Subscribe to rss feed for thndrhwk

There you sat,
Pouring your soul into a song
That would turn Beethoven red in shame,
Pounding at the ivory keys
As if your life depended
On that one melody.
I felt your sadness then,
Even if I didn't recognize it.
I felt the anguish tearing at your heart
Though I didn't really know.
And even later,
When you broke down
And went home crying
Afraid to face the reality of death
I didn't feel for you,
Or at least not the same way
As I felt when you sat
Striking haunting chords and dying notes,
In the cold twighlit dawn,
And I knew nothing.
