My Blue Shoes
I walk my earthy path in shoes that are dyed blue
I've walked this path for four billion years
In shoes of the very same hue
I've walked this road through laughter and tears
In the same comfortable blue shoe

By now my shoes are tattered and worn
With holes and rips in places
I just sew up where they are torn
And tighten up the laces
Then they are just reborn

They stink for a long way off
But I keep walkin' on
People look at them and scoff
I just look at them and yawn
And open my mouth and cough

My shoes and I will not be parted
And at the end of my path
We'll be the same as when we started
And both of us will need a bath
But neither is faint hearted

Where I am going my shoes may not come
I'm now at the end of my path
I'll miss you shoes, my old chum
I think now's the time for that bath
So no one will think you're a bum

I take them off my stinky feet
And hand them to a stranger
He takes them and thinks they are neat
He thinks I'm a great arranger
And starts strutting down the street

My shoes and he make quite a pair
My shoes will not be lonely
You see my shoes are really quite rare
And this isn't just baloney
Of my shoes he will get a lot of wear

Goodbye shoes. I wish you well
You are now happy to be on his feet
All my worries I now dispel
Say hello to all you meet
And your great life to others tell
