A Tiny Tale of a Little Girl, by BrwnEyes Subscribe to rss feed for BrwnEyes

On the street, walks a girl whose
Feet Move and go one, two; one, two.
Shoulders sulked and head down,
Her tiny face, wears a tiny frown.

To her right she sees a boy,
Bouncing a ball against the wall.
In the rhythm of her feet;
One, two; one, two.

The boy looks up and gives her a scowl,
Knowing she's different by her arm.
A star stains its cloth,
Branding her like a Cattle.

She continues down the road,
The beating of her heart speeds up.
One, two-One, two; One, two-One, two.
Now fear fills her chest.

She speeds up one, two, one, two, one, two,
Straight past the men in uniform.
And the onlookers from the little town,
Making sure not to look at them, but down.

She looks to her left.
A woman in red,
Fighting with her husband,
And Shaking her fist-One, two, one, two.

She gets to her gate,
And walks into her building.
Climbing up the stairs,
Her feet go one, two, one, two.

Something is wrong, this she knows,
For in her heart it shows.
Tears fall that she has to hide.
And she runs faster up the stairwell's side.

Reaching her door she hesitates at first,
But regains her composure and opens the door.
Inside a mess of her home is made,
Chairs and tables on the ground they lay.

Nobody's there; they're all gone,
Except for a letter nailed on the wall.
Her parents were taken Auschwitz,
A camp where her people were being held hostage.

Panic and fear fill her eyes,
Because her parents she was sure would not survive.
Finally, finally tears stream down her face,
'Why, oh why, God do you allow such hate,'

Collapsing to the ground as she spots,
Her mom's ring that proved her dad loved her lots.
Inscribed inside are the words from his heart,
'Without God we'd fall apart.'

She closes her eyes and says a prayer,
For safety for them would be rare.
"Father in heaven, Keep them safe;
For they have good hearts, and good faith."

In the distance a noise sounds,
Her head pops up and she spins around.
Tons of footsteps and tons of shoes,
Make the sound of one, two; one, two.
