Paper For 251, by beccamarie Subscribe to rss feed for beccamarie

Nine AM and then she says

“find a poem and pick a point
	copy that point
	and turn it in.”

Sounds easy enough so I leave
I head to the library to
my spot near the big bay window
here I can watch everyone pass by
watch them go through their lives
I try to start and this is the first time
I crack open the text
And look for something that inspires me
Unfortunately I can’t find one
They inspire me but not to write similarly
So I try anyways
And I fail
I don’t just fail
I suck
So I close my book
Close my laptop and go to class
Then on the drive home I hear a song I want to copy
So when I get home I try again
Failed attempt number two
The song is inspiring
And it provoked me to write
Except the result was the same song
With different words
It was as if I had run the song through a thesaurus
Attempt number three
The winner
When I sit here
Writing in my process notebook
About how much this assignment makes me struggle
Then I realize
I have already read something similar
With this feeling
The feeling of not knowing what to write
So writing what you think
And doing exactly what the assignment says
Without being deep
Without apologizing for being blunt
By sugar coating my words
We read “Theme for English B”
So this is my “Theme for English B”
In a version designed for English 251.
