Black Stitches, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

I could fight this wall but it’s cemented with time
and as I run up to jump over - it grows.
I could hide from this cold but it’s not my design
and as I gather a blanket - it snows.

I don’t want to face this horizon alone,
learning to wander away from your throne.

__Black ribbons wind around satin dreams,
__black threads tangle around muffled screams,
__black strings restrain the tears on my face,
__and black stitches hold my blackened heart in place.

I thought I was moving but your smile pushed me back
and with aching footsteps – I lost.
I thought colour had died but it’s still far from black
and numbers place blame – my cost.

I’d love to forget that you made me your queen,
but I guess that I’m still lost somewhere in between.

What do I do,
how much can I take?
Is there any compass
that can point me to free?
‘Cause I’m turning blue,
trying to fake
and it’s back,
all this black,
consuming me…

__Black ribbons unwind from around satin dreams,
__black threads untangle from around muffled screams,
__black strings let go of the tears on my face,
__and black stitches can’t hold my blackened heart in
place.
