Sidewinder Destiny, by Lisa Rodriguez Subscribe to rss feed for Lisa Rodriguez

Sidewinder destiny
striking at my feet
smiling in the eyes of every
shadow that I meet,
Every time I turn around
I see my grinning fate
with fangs that glisten life's revenge,
content to lie in wait.

Sidewinder destiny
coiled in the sand,
lightly I must walk upon
this rattlesnake land.Treading in between the truth
that cringes in my soul
and lies societies enforce
like payment of the toll.

Sidewinder destiny
the viper lies so low
the past is its dark hiding place.
The future is my foe.
The rubber band convictions
that only give so far
will snap right back and sting me
leaving wisdom like a scar.
