Down The Lane

All is still. Not a sound is heard.
Not the flutter of wings, nor the peep of a bird.
Not the dragon fly, nor the honey bee
All have vanished, even the flea.

I look down the lane and what do I see
Flowers and bushes and one lonely tree
But not birds or butterflys, not even a cat
Where oh where is everyone at?

Am I to live in this world all alone?
What did I do? Must I atone?
Come back, come back, oh wild life do
For I cannot live without you.

Who will pollinate the fruit if not the bee
I need you for food, don't you see?
Who will sing pretty if not the bird?
Songs so beautiful as I have ever heard.

I look down the lane and I think I see
Some kittens, yes, numbering three
And birds and bees and a dragon fly
Oh, thank you my friends. How happy am I.

I look down the lane and all is well
Even in the wooded hollow they call the dell
Even the church is ringing it's bell
Gosh, oh gee, do I feel swell.
