What Do I See? , by FlawlessStorm Subscribe to rss feed for FlawlessStorm

What Do I see when I look at a soldier?
Sorrow, Sadness, Sacrifice.
The torment all around.
Yet, when I look in his eyes I see hope.
Hope that this will end soon,
And he an return to his family.

What do I see when I look at his wife?
She's torn and worried,
Half-expecting him not to come home.
arely sleeping at night, she's scared.
But deep in her heart,
She knows he's coming back.

What do I see when I look at a veteran?
Still, the images forever locked in his head.
His friends are gone;yet after all the years,
He still misses them.
The dedication remains.
He may wear a striaght face,
But inside, he is broken.

I wrote this poem for a contest at school.
