“Forgive me, I’m lonely,”
She cries to the night,
And watches with sorrow as the birds take flight.
She knows they won’t listen and tries to give in,
But the whisper of her heart knows that’s a deadly
sin.

“Forgive me, I’m lonely,”
She cries to the stars,
And does her level best to cover her scars.
She knows there’s too many and tries to give in,
And the whisper of her heart says that’s a good
thing.

“Forgive me, I’m lonely,”
She cries to the moon,
Wishing that her pain would all end soon.
She knows it won’t happen, she heard it in a song,
But the whisper of her heart tells her the song is wrong.

“Forgive me, I’m lonely,”
She cries to the End,
Wishing that she had just one good friend.
She pulls the knife nearer but her hands start to sway,
And the whisper of her heart tells her to put the knife
away.

“Forgive me, I’m lonely,”
She tells the new outsider,
And smiles in surprise as he sits right besides her.
She looks in his eyes but doesn’t know what to do,
Until the stranger suddenly says, “I’m lonely
too.”

Very nicely done...I read a couple of your poems and you talk alot about knives, is there a deeper meaning to it?...just curious.
