Can't Go Any Further, by Anthony Cardon Subscribe to rss feed for Anthony Cardon

I can hear your voice
Tempting me to freeze
My footsteps.

Don’t rise near me,
Thy forbidden voice:
Its beauty; so real and luring.

Please, the wind,
Take her voice away
So that my heart may rest.

I can leave
Soon…just one more step.
I can see the ending.

I’ll be free
From the grasp
I so loved.

Release me,
Release your clenching tears
They slide down my face, too.

How I wished
To tell you
What you meant to me.

My world lured in your arms,
Warming it
As the sun.

My feet struggle
Through the snow
As it deepens…away from your warmth.

I call your name
But I shut my mouth.
The sun dims in the distance.

The blizzard thickens.
I am walking away,
My feet as slow as vine growth.

My screams echo off the clouds.
I can’t go any further
My heart is slowly deteriorating.

My arms reach back
To your presence,
Caressing the last of your warmth.

I can’t go any further.
I can’t bear this pain.
I need you by my side…
My love,
How can fate be so cruel?
