You Don't Know Love, by Don't build lies on ice cubes. Subscribe to rss feed for Don't build lies on ice cubes.

You don't know love at all
It doesn't happen once, though literature would disagee
It doesn't go smoothly with a guaranteed happy ending
And it isn't a lyrical song to an accoustic guitar

You can't know love
If you think that it conquers every obstacle it faces
If you think it is pure, and good, and right
And if you think that it will be your saving grace

For love can't be contained, it can't be described
It's consuming, and exhausting, and it weaves in your soul
And sometimes it lasts, and those people are lucky
But most who love shall lose it one day

That's the way of the world, of people, of love
Yes it needs you to stand up and say im going to fight
If you lay down then love shall tramble upon you
But even if you fight, it doesn't mean you will win

For love is like air, it can not be touched
It can not be seen, nor can it be felt
But it lets you breathe, it lets you live
And without it you'll suffocate

Don't tell me that love is a wonderful thing
Because you can't know love until you've felt its wrath
You can not know love until its returned
And you can not know love until you know heartbreak

So do not tell me how I felt
And don't preach to me about how I should feel
Because hundreds of years we've debated this topic
And no one knows. It can't be confined.

But you do not know love if you havent been in it.
You may think you do, but trust me you dont
For I know love, I felt it, I lived it.
And now its gone. But it will come back one day.

For thats the wonderful thing about love
Perhaps its ultimate saving grace
That no one who loses love, loses forever
It comes back in a different form to consume you again

And it gets easier to love, easier to learn
Its not for one person and for one alone.
I was in love once, so I shall be again
And to know that, is when you really know love.
