Abandoner, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

An indented veneer
bounces the words
back
at masked faces.
  Your mask
  is all too
  transparent.
You are
a superficial ally
in a sea
of divisions.
I am
nothing
but an outline
to fill the space
at your side.
Depleted of energy,
I cannot summon
a smile
for you
anymore.
  You don't smile
  at me.
So icicles dangle
from my fingertips.
  I snap them in
  contempt.
Another tally,
another abandoner,
another empty
chair.
