THE RAIN, by Devika Subscribe to rss feed for Devika

Street children playing...all the trees swaying
All of them share my joy
As if saying...Rain has come at last
And we are overjoyed!!

The smell of the wet earth
As if giving life a new birth
Everything appears so beautiful
And there is alas some joy in my heart

As i walk through the drops of rain
I know it washes away all the pain
My soul is cleant..from all the guilt and repent
and now...mother nature has told me to move on...

But as i walk on i wonder
About the people who dont have shelter no longer
They have no home to return to
no clothes, no food, just a bridge to sit under!

do these people really enjoy the rain??
As i think this i see a few street children playing
An old man putting his hand out from under the bridge
Smiling as if reminiscing getting wet in the rain as a kid

In our journey there will be many sunny n cloudy days
But the winner is the one who despite the darkness says
"My time will come too and i will work hard and wait"
Just as the earth does in the smoldering sun for the rain

We should always let the child in us live
Learn to live and let live, forget and forgive
These children taught me even when there is nowhere to go
Life is still beautiful and there is still hope!!
