The Orphan, by Julia Anne Subscribe to rss feed for Julia Anne

This poor orphan is only six years old.

She lives on the streets and eats things that stink and are
covered with mold.

Did I mention her name, I don't believe I did,

Patty is the name of this poor orphaned kid.

She has one outfit, an old tattered dress,

And I must say, her appearance is a complete mess.

One day she was asked if she would like to stay

With a friendly family who lived far far away.

The lady who asked her was dressed very nice.

And Patty did long for something besides old, spoiled rice.

But then Patty thought it might be a trick,

To get her hopes high and let them down quick.

As if reading her mind the lady said,

"This is no trick my dear, we'll give you a warm bed.

We want to help you, you poor starving thing."

So Patty decided to go along

And as they walked the lady began to sing a sweet song.

"You sing very pretty" Patty did say.

"Why thank-you my dear, and by the way

My name is Kailey. I am the lady of the house.

You will be my daughter from here on out."
