We Were Best Friends, by MrsPeterson Subscribe to rss feed for MrsPeterson

Running around the big oak tree
Playing tag and hide and go seek
We always have the most fun together
Nothing will ever pull us apart
We were Best Friends
Mom said that I had to go inside that night
So we hugged and you ran home
Mom wouldn't let me go out the next day
Said we were gonna move far away
I cried as I throw my things in a box
I'll never see you again
I'll miss you, dear friend

As the years went by I never forgot about you
Had your pictures all on my walls
Went through High School and College
Got married and moved even farther away
2 years later here I am, alone
Got divorced when I found him cheating
Lost my job, I have nowhere to go
So here I sit
Under our Oak Tree
Holding your picture close to my heart
Your still my best friend

Out at a bar
Spending my last $5
The bartender brings me my drink
Seeing an old jukebox
I decide to play our song
I leave the picture on the bar
When I turn to go back
The bartender walks up behind me
Looks me deep in the eyes
It's like I know him
He puts his hand on mine
And whispers into my ear
"We'll always be best friends!"

"I remember we would run around the big oak tree
Playing tag and hide and go seek
We always had the most fun together
Nothing could ever pull us apart
We were Best Friends"

This is wonderful makes me think about my friendships..and that there is still a bit of hope left in them

I love this piece! I really do. It's makes me hope that I'll run into my friends I lost contact with so long ago. Great work.
