IF I had wings 14/11/08, by Teach2Learn Subscribe to rss feed for Teach2Learn

If I had wings I would fly
If I had a heart I know I could cry
With my bones crushed and broken
Always an honest word spoken
My word is my bond
If only I had a magic wand
I would take us back in time
Back to where my life was mine
To a place where I experienced no fear
No second thought to shed a tear
If I had wings I’d glide so high in the wild blue sky
Never allowing life to pass me by
Just drifting and hovering on the thermal breeze
Enjoying the luxury of safety and feeling at ease
If I grew wings I could fly to my dreams
The wind in my ears drowning out my screams
My long powerful wings breaking the chain
So that my lost dreams could not be stolen again
I dream I can fly to a much safer tomorrow
Living each day in serenity with no more feelings of sorrow

I long to be free soaring in the uplifting winds
Feeling the wind beneath my sound wings
Wouldn’t it be invigorating to feel weightlessness?
With absolutely no burden or ache of stress
Air pockets lifting me to heights I only dream of
Resting in the soft creamy clouds above
If I could fly I would shield my son under my wing
Allowing my gorgeous boy to prosper and sing
If I had wings eluding the predator I’d escape
So he couldn’t even see my silhouette shape
One day soon I trust I will fly
From this day till then strength and tenacity I shall apply
