An Introduction to Economic Vampirism, by David Subscribe to rss feed for David

With a swagger and a smirk, we make our toasts and salute'
our treasures,
"Hail! Hail! our conquering hero!" we chant, laying down
branches before the pale horse,

From man to mechanism, the soul is wearing thin,
Grasping the chains to lighten the load,
Walking on eggshells for the common good,
waiting for our peace offering to be understood.

Bled dry by the dischord, relying on muscle memory,
we walk our own trail of tears, for the almighty dollar
bill,

Broken flesh, tired and worn, why do we enslave ourselves so
much more?
Time measured burden by burden, shackles become the new
black,
"I can't look myself in the eye, to see what I've done to
survive" but we'll move along, trample, and bury our own
dead, for the sake of a better "us"
