A Statue of Cromwell , by Darren Oxton Subscribe to rss feed for Darren Oxton

'Where has your sword disappeared to?'
Standing alone,
Surrounded by these greeny acres,
Such a peaceful time, you have never known since now,

Dictator or saviour and so goes the row,
How your army stood by you,
As you so dismissed the lords and all
Of the fakers,

Your legacy assured by the history makers,
Alone here, nothing to do,
And now a dynasty gone and finished somehow,

General in stone, history's forgotten thou.
Worn and torn, from storms lashed down
By heavens creators,
A sculptors work, timeless, true,
