Loose Wires, by Darren Oxton Subscribe to rss feed for Darren Oxton

The mental moon completes the view
And lights the night-time sky,
Poor sods driven by despair and madness,
Unsure of who or why?

Here, the lost souls pace up and down,
In wait for all their med's,
The only thing that seems
To help maintain stable, or level heads.

Once they'd been deemed 'normal' kids
With many dreams and desires
But now, unhinged, crazy fucker's!
-With heads full of loose wires,

Kids they were, like you and me,
With gracious hopes of things to be,
Now broken down and driven wild,
A sorry sight for one to see,

One boy, John, was a cheeky lad
I had known him rather well,
He had a car crash accident
That had put him half through hell,

He'd been through the mill,
His life almost well and truly undone,
But now frozen cold and still,
His body all rigid and numb,

I miss the lad so much,
He used to be so great and funny, so dear,
A smiling soul, happy,
And at ease with himself, without any fear,

But life's hand had
Not dealt for him all that well,
And from that shaky column of sanity
He had oh so briskly fell,

Into the abyss
-He went-down that slippery slope,
All his remaining years spent here,
Stuck on medicine and doped,

The tears keep falling,
Again and again, here in the falling rain,
Whilst friends and family pray
They find some help to ease his pain.

The years tick by,
With a depressed longing sigh, oh my, oh why?
But the lonely moon never leaves
That murky ebony of late night sky.
