Sunrise, by Invisible Poet Subscribe to rss feed for Invisible Poet

I reside where there is no light
a world of darkness so deep
a world without sun, absent of sight
a room without doors, walls so steep

no windows to let the sun through
only walls to keep the light at bay
a lifeless tree bearing no fruit
a reckoning force set in my way

i have never seen a sunrise
never felt the beams of light
at the slightest hint of warmth
i leap back in fright

hiding within this abyss
nothingness i know so well
my prescence they do not miss
it was best that i fell

but the darkness it thinning up there
this eternal darkness, could it all be lies
for this one thing i dare not hope
i gaze into the space above, witnessing my first sunrise
