I sing to myself as music plays softly in the background
Saying everything my heart is whispering,
and even though I know you're not paying attention,
I'll still say these things to you in hopes that maybe
you'll one day hear what I have to say.

I'm not saying this out of anger or of convenience,
But out of a lack of respect that you have for me,
and lack of understanding for my clearly stated rules.
Do not fall in love with and do not betray me.

This is why I do not get involved.
This is why I do not fall for people.
This is why I do not trust you anymore.
This is why I ran in the first place.
This is why I will start over again.

I didn't mean to fall on my face right out of the gate,
But you seem to have tripped me without even me seeing.
Unfortunately one cannot plan around the unknowns,
So I held my breath and dove in head first,
Only to come face to face with 3 foot of blood and
concrete.

Letting you in was more than difficult,
you were so new, something I was not used to in any way.
But just like everyone else just like you,
Hunger took over and when the steak was unavailable,
You caved and had hamburger like a cheap coward.
