The Girl Who Thought She'd Got Lost, by Darren Oxton Subscribe to rss feed for Darren Oxton

As I sat on the cheap, red plastic bench,
l noticed her sobbing there,
Two perhaps three, I looked round to see,
If her parents were 'bout anywhere,

Her tears were well flowing, the poor little soul,
So I ambled over and said
'Where are your parents, your mummy and daddy?'
As she puzzled and scratched at her head,

Suddenly then, I heard a loud cry,
From behind the drink and wine aisle,
Her mummy, she scanned me from head down to toe,
A scowl on her face all the while,

'She thought she'd got lost'-I hurriedly said, 'Was crying
her little heart out',
Then her mum took her arm, and hard slapped her palm'
'Will teach you for wandering about',

So off they both went, the girl and the 'mum',
Out the door, hopping into their
car,
But with parents like that, I thought to myself,
How will that kid ever get far?
