"WINTER'S KISS", by athenagoddesss Subscribe to rss feed for athenagoddesss

I sit here staring out
Into the open crisp air
The void that fills my heart
Strips me of all that's fair...

The memories I seek
Hide behind the wall I build
Soaring high into the night sky
Protecting my spirit with its shield...

The lingering thoughts
I play over and over in my mind
Wondering if the choices I made
Helped make the person I left behind...

The lakes solid reflection
As I lean in to see my soul
With Winter's frozen kiss
I see the half that has left me unwhole...

The tears slide down my cheek
Staining my face and tearing me apart
The memories flood like a dam
Broken by the decisions that break my heart...

The past haunts me behind my eyes
I close them hoping to find silence
Hearing the trees whisper my past
As light of day fades to darkness...

The bitterness seeps into my skin
The neverending breeze I hold
Searching and hoping for that one moment
To appear and lay still and cold...

My veins become numb
And my eyes lose all sight
Wishing for all that I have lost
To return and keep me warm at night...

Winter's Kiss
Becoming the garden in my eyes
The leaves swallowing me
Reliving all the horrible lies...

The kiss becoming brittle
Like the cracks of ice on the lake
Tearing my soul into pieces
And jeopardizing everything at stake...

The Winter's kiss
Caressing the inner part of me
It slowly freezes what I have left
And staggers my spirit to the sea...

I close my eyes
Breathing deep my soul's fire
The Winter's kiss
With cold air cuts my desire...

The me I have become
The memories I leave behind
Of the person I have lost
With Winter's kiss my heart will find...

The unknown void
That I hold dear to my heart
Like the frozen lake
I seperate myself apart...

I climb atop the wall I built
I see the frozen land before me
Winter's kiss becoming my dreams
In vision I stand before all I see...

I reach the edge
In darkness I fade
Like all things lost
I become the me I have made... ...

Oh, such risks, such rewards, so beautifully rendered.
