Sounds MENTAL, by michelle hoult Subscribe to rss feed for michelle hoult

Corridors of cold
Dumped out of sight and mind
Not wanted yet no explanations
The asylum is where they went
They say it was safe
To deal with those not normal
Empty repetitive routine
Shouts of pain and suffering
Locked doors and empty sounds
Canvas rubber walls not heal
Dispensing medicine treatment
Shocks and seizures fit
The brain shocked into action
Bodies held down
Hope they said was meant
Instruments of torture writhe
Making crude decisions
Pubic opinion means isolation
Away from judging eyes
Wait please help me here I’m dying
Of torture and abuse
All I said was I feel low and I was spirited away
My grim life now in poisoned walls
Not knowing what I’d done
Hundreds more just like me
Contained with substance and outcries
This evil must end
The morality of stigma must change
Conscience priced for change
Torture of mental patients amend
Shameful buildings torn down
Notions now assaulted
New knowledge of care a vision
Yet transformation is slow and rigid
We still live on the margins
Powerless to stop the disgrace
Old prejudices still predominates
