Midnight Sun, by Lillian Subscribe to rss feed for Lillian

The sun is shining into my room,
But my eyes are filled with gloom.
A few days away from change,
All I can do is regret this waste.
Six months I gave to somebody's hobby.
He gave me a chance and nothing stopped me.
The fastest-excelling girl around;
The girl they were thankful to have found.
Always right there when anybody called,
Picking up the slack where they fall.
Where they don't even try, I succeed.
Where they don't even sweat, I bleed.
People love me and my genuine words,
Because I'm polite, and I never flirt.
My memory surpasses most,
And I really do hate to boast,
But they don't come for the view.
I create with more magic than she could ever use.
I don't know why I'm not enough.
I'm finished sucking it up and being tough.
It doesn't matter what my till is,
Or how many times I clean it.
It doesn't matter that I'm lightening quick,
Or that I even show up when I'm sick.
I've done my very best each day,
And yours is a game I shouldn't have to play.
It isn't that I don't care,
Or that I don't want to be there.
I'm just wise enough to see,
That it's you who doesn't care about me.
