The memory makes its return
As if it were yesterday
Wood broke and burned
A union turned to ash eventually

Forcing your way in
Breaking down the door
The pounding of the memory
Still leaves my heart sore

Were you possessed by fear
That I was no longer in your reach?
Your dreams flooded by tears
A survival lesson no one did teach

I'm sorry for all your hurt
And the love you gave in vain
For times I left you in the dirt
Not forgetting the looks of disdain

In retrospect, I'm the culprit
For turning you into a monster
Alas, I couldn't help it
Love could not register

Oh, unrequited love, causing all sorts of awkward encounters. You captured it well.
