Beauty Shunned, by Albert Ahearn Subscribe to rss feed for Albert Ahearn

I can’t help but chuckle each time
I peddle along avenues
And streets that are well paved and kept
In the towns affluent section.
Each house that lines the thoroughfares
Seem to possess the same concept
Of beauty: A polluted lawn
That is manicured on par with
The owner’s housewife’s fingernails;
A flowerbed with nonnative
Hybrids struggling to stay alive
In their unnatural environs
While vulgar dandelions dare
Not near their proximity.

A common yellow
Flower with natural beauty:
The dandelion.
