City Dwellers, by Albert Ahearn Subscribe to rss feed for Albert Ahearn

Towering concrete monoliths
loom above seemingly mindless
lemmings- rushing, bumping, pushing
their way in endless moving lines
in instinctive forward motion;
Each with programmed destinations
Instilled by subtle brainwashing
from the few who reside above
in luxurious penthouses.
Below, one of the vacuous
pack falls dead on the cold pavement
only to be trampled underfoot
unattended amidst strident
sounds of taxi horns and Sirens.
