Life? , by Vera Espiritu Subscribe to rss feed for Vera Espiritu

I am in a standstill with my life
Wake up, brush my teeth,
Proceed with zombie-like agility

All I want to do is sleep
Isn't that sad?
The highlight of my world
Consists of closing my eyes

I live in some type of limbo
Where death and life
Heaven and hell
All things wanted, all things forgotten
Mix as one, a paradoxical kaleidoscope

A place where you can't decipher
One extreme from the next
The same yet different

How can this be life?
How can any of this be real?

We place our lives in the hands
Of the corrupted and greedy
Our happiness in paper bills
Leave our thinking to machines

Sometimes I pinch myself
Believing this is a dream

It must be

My fingers leave a red mark
But inside, I feel nothing at all
Nothing.
