We, the Liars, by Stormlucas Subscribe to rss feed for Stormlucas

We're a world of broken people, using smiles to hide tears
A joke to cover heartache, forcing laughter over fears.

We're a world of brimming smiles, but they're brimming full
of pain
And we force ourselves each morning to take a breath and
hide again.

We're liars caught in happiness, living to revive our souls,

Because they say pain does not exist if it's not visible.

We, the liars, lie to liars about pain that we all feel
That we've all sworn not to mention, tell our children it's
not real.

We accuse the crumbling smiles: "What is this pain you
mention?
No more theatrics, just be happy, you're just looking for
attention ."

We bite back our own explosions, when we could shatter from
the hurt
Because we know that the assumptions and the glances will be
worse.

We walk eternal circles, sometimes living sometimes dying
But we still can't learn the lessons that will stop each
other hiding

We perpetuate the lie while we weep softly in the shadows,
Hiding tearstains from the sunrise and forcing smiles for
open windows.

We must realize our sameness and dare to admit we're weak
We all have the right to voice our pain. We all have the
right to speak.
