Pieces, by Shauna DesJardins Subscribe to rss feed for Shauna DesJardins

One day here, one day there.
Pieces of me lie everywhere.
As I walk and as I talk,
Pieces, I'm sure, have been dropped.
One in a lake, one in a house.
A few even picked up by a little mouse.
Can't be put back, can only be crushed.
Some I miss, some just suck.
Never to be found, at least not by me.
Maybe someday something will light my path
But for now its darkness,
Pitch and black.
My future you ask?
Well I'm afraid I lack.
Maybe someday it'll be back
Just like a bird gone for winter
Always finds its way home.
Spring is coming slow and steady.
Taking its sweet time to find me again.
Until then I bid farewell,
To my drowning heart and crying soul.
