The Past Truth, by MelissaJMc Subscribe to rss feed for MelissaJMc

I am breaking my heart for you
Exposing my insides to match your outsides
Please forgive my innermost self
She shows up at all the wrong times
And speaks of broken pasts and painful wreckage
We cannot avoid the memories
And I cannot face the uncertainty
Of a future that promises a matched misery of yesterday
I walk away from you hiding tears with a shaky hand
You and I are a dangerous potion
We conjure up the worst in each other
No space between our impulses and actions
We tear away at ourselves like death
I lived under that spell for too long
And my body is broken from it
Please don't watch me walk away
And romanticize this ugliness; I know you will
It only brings us heartache
And I can no longer follow my heart-
When my head does not lie to me
