Trailer Park Blues, by doug hankins Subscribe to rss feed for doug hankins

Sleeveless flannel shirt, a mullet cut
front tooth missing, got a big ol' gut
He moved down the street in 'bout 99
'Course he's been in rehab most of that time

Drugs fried his brain, so he ain't to bright,
His old lady Jo, runs around all night
He's laid off, cookin' meth and drinking booze
said he don't worry bout nothin', ain't got nothin' to lose

He's got them Redneck, Low Rent, Trailer Park Blues

David Allen Coe singing on the radio a few doors down
Then theres them freaky sheet wearin' dudes comin' round
Tonight they'll get stoned, try to get made,
End up, passed out in their black Escalade

Then there's the young folk, Brendon and Trish
she's only twenty-one, but man she's a dish
she dances nights at Passions Men's Club
he's a bouncer at the Hill Billy Pub

They've got a case of the Redneck, Low Rent
Trailer Park Blues.

My buddy Otis, his place is a jewel
He's got a pergolla, with a Kayak pool
He works for himself, sets up mobile homes
He don't have an old lady , he's all alone

Sister Juanita has the hots for him, but he don't know
He's too busy chasing that “birthday cake” Jo
It's a “As the World Turns” rerun without a clue
what happens in a trailer park ain't nothing new

Next door to my trailer lives a first rate whore
men comin' -n- going like a revolving door
her name is Nadine, she's a red headed cutie
makes her living from selling her bootie

She's got them Redneck, Low Rent, Trailer Park Blues

Sugar Bear, the maintenance man, is a freak
Iraq took his grin, along with the meth he tweeks.
He's too stoned to ride with the Horsemen anymore
Still got a Ironhead Harley sittin' outside his door

Georgette lives in a double wide with her brother Jim
She's got 3 boys with 3 different men
Otis says she dates his 2rd cousin Ray
At night he drives a taxi and sells dope during the day.

He's got them Redneck, Low Rent, Trailer Park Blues

Rufus' lived in this trailer park for nigh on 30 year
he knows everybody's business, everyone lives so near
who's dating who and who's doing who
living in a trailer park, he ain't got nothing to do?

I'm sittin' here watchin' all this crap going down
Feelin' quite like a fat circus clown
Sometimes it's nice listening to the Blues Traveler's sound
and not giving a damn 'bout this trailer park town

I've got those Redneck, Low Rent, Trailer Park Blues
