An Island paradise., by Robin Goodwin Subscribe to rss feed for Robin Goodwin

The shimmering white grass plains on the valley floors
The gentle breeze on the kelp strewn shores.
The air above so fresh and clean
Like the crystal clear water in the nearby stream.
Not a tree in site in every direction
God’s gift they say to his own creation.
Nothing touched nor changed by man
Wild life nesting wherever they can.
Giant albatross flying high above the cliff face
Cormorants nesting below all over the place.
The huge Atlantic swell that pounds the cliffs
Yes all these things are gods own gifts.
The peace the calm the tranquillity
Just as nature intended it all to be.
The tussock grass so thick so tall
That grows upon this peaty soil.
Penguins nest beneath these massive domes
For many wild life it is their homes.
The fiery sunsets of the evening sky
Cotton wool clouds that float gently by.
The elephant seal basks on the beach
Penguins scuffle between them just out of reach.
The whitest sand dunes the huge stone runs
Down valley’s round hills the river comes.
Fresh water springs are everywhere
The giver of life for all to share.
The morning mist rests on mountain tops
But the wild life activities never stops.
On land and sea around these shores
Every corner you turn opens new doors.
Staggering beauty the envy of all mankind
For over five hundred years ago they did not find.
A moment in time where life stands still
As you sit and watch from a nearby hill.
Still an unspoilt beauty to come and see
This land of plenty so wild so free.
Man one day may spoil this land
Exploit the fish and oil they’ve planned.
But until that day has finally come
It is still a paradise for everyone..
