Would It Have Been Different, by Austin Hoehn Subscribe to rss feed for Austin Hoehn

Would it have been different if....
that baby you held had been a boy would you have held him
differently?
Would it have been different if....
that baby you kissed and hugged a millions
of times had been a boy
would you have hugged and kissed him less?
Would it have been different if....
that baby you never endlessly changed soiled clothes
was a little boy instead of a girl
would you not have cleaned him?
Would it have made difference if she was he
would you have loved and cared for your child less?
OF COURSE NOT.

For the little baby that was happily announced that the sex
of this child is surly a girl.....So you did your best to
raise her with ribbons and curls.
with cute little sundress with flowers and lace.
But all along that child was a boy
a boy that you loved with all your heart.
You raised him with all the parental support.
You taught and guided, you encouraged and corrected.
He was happy and loved, he was full of smiles and laughter
there was nothing you did to make that child change, because
he did not change he was always just him
