The American concept of "wasting time"
Make every minute count
Time is money, don't you know?
And we have a small amount

I'm twenty years, I'm so old!
I still haven't found my place
I can't allow the ticking clock
To beat me in this race

Hurry, hurry, but don't you trip
Falling will lose you time
You'll start back at the bottom
And have further yet to climb

Sixty, seventy, eighty years
Time passes by so fast
There's never quite enough of it
And then you're dead at last

Stop goofing off, stop ambling
Again, you're wasting time
Loafing about and loitering
Should be considered a crime

Like I said, I'm old now
With little time to spare
Pretty soon the silvery grey
Will show through my blonde hair

Sixty years, that's about all
The time I have left here
I ought not waste this damn obsession
My country holds so dear
