My Kindred Soul
I saw you there
With raven hair
And raven eyes
That penetrate and magnetize
With smile to warm the coldest heart
That someone else had torn apart
I looked and then I looked away
Strengthening the wall about myself day by day
No, not you , whom I have known so many years
But I see you there and my eyes fill with tears
Me in tears? It cannot be
"No!," don't look at me.
Tears mean my wall is tumbling down
Turn away your eyes so brown
I cannot stand your piercing gaze
From raven eyes come loving rays
That crack my wall
In pieces fall
Around my feet
Inside my head I shout, "retreat!"
But I cannot go
I was too slow
And now my heart that once was stone
Is warm and alive with feelings never known
I see the longing in your raven eyes
That spark with love that never dies
I now return your loving gaze
Through eyes with greenish haze
A gaze that pierces deep within your soul
Knowing this love will take it's toll
Your arms at last are holding me
Something I thought could never be
How long I've dreamed of this very time
For always, Till bells don't chime
'Til time stands still
I'll love you, I will
Then your lips are touching mine
A kiss so sweet that chills run up my spine
I cling to you and cannot let you go
And if you ask me to, I'd have to tell you "no"
For I've loved you for so long
It's close to you that I belong
I've known you longer than forever
Before this earth was formed we were together
My kindred soul is what you are
My light, my shining star
How is it that it took so long
For me to feel a love so strong?
