Is That Really Me?, by No Child Is Innocent Once Born Subscribe to rss feed for No Child Is Innocent Once Born

I look into the mirror
And what do I see
Oh my god, no way
This girl can’t be me

The smile is not real
All the eyes do is stare
You're having me on
Who is in there?

I lift my left hand
She does the same
I whisper
"What is your name?"

The girl in the mirror
Nothing like I used to be
I was at one time real
I was once a time free

I could walk the streets
Hands hanging loosely at my side
But then I found the bitch
The monster inside
I am what I am
but what I am is fake
Trying to be "her"
My one big mistake
I hide behind that "girl"
The one they all want to see
The thing now caged inside
Is the innocent real me.

That is so pretty. You write very truthfully about things.
