I stand on your shoulders to make me taller
I love it when you tickle my toes
The only person who can cradle my pain in weakness
You cradle me
You see life as it happens
One day at a time
The lotto number shoots up and you nod your head
You’ll never win, but the pillows are soft on your bed

You can stand on my shoulders too
I’m as little as light
And when your fingers touch the rays
I kiss your forehead
Hold the sun in place at your height
And keep summer in its hour
I’ll dance with the moon
You look more beautiful in its light

Our test was the magnet between us
Two positives at both ends
Can you swim? Can you swim?
I can…

*I find life in the condensation of your breath upon my
mirror
The image never mattered, oh these poor withering eyes we
share
We’ll never understand how beautiful they are

You pull me down to the sediment
Grain by grain, I learn to love it
I’d catapult you into my world,
but I’ve still got a lot to learn here
wave by wave a new thought fills this modest heart of mine
and you take it in stride

your words are small most of the time
maybe they don’t matter as much as I’d desire them to
it’s true you never have to tell me a word
but there is no heed in a starless sky
my words for you possess a home in the twilight
they glitter a prismed canopy, conquering the rays of the
hiding sun
hiding sun

our love was the glue between us
a magnet couldn’t stand a chance
can you run? Can you run?
I can…

*

beautiful like the verdant shelter from the tempered earth
beautiful like your color in the storm
beautiful like the snow
provisional diamonds upon the lashes of your eyes

carry me down, with the ease of the feathers that fall to
the ground
carry me down
endlessly down…
