Corporate Power **challange poem**

Is it that we just don't know,
or would we rather not?
Tensions building round the world
are getting pretty hot.
We used to be respected,
but now we're mostly feared.
Still many do not notice how
compassion's disappeared.

Maybe it was never there,
we only fooled ourselves.
That people do not mean as much
as things upon the shelves.
Destroying cultures slowly,
and that includes our own.
This is just another sign
how apathy has grown.

We could change a different way,
but I don't think we care.
Even if we do I doubt
the willingness is there.
I think that we find comfort
in things we do not know.
Democracy will dwindle
as corporate powers grow.
