Literature Classes, by Whirlwynd Subscribe to rss feed for Whirlwynd

Notes - One of the poems submitted in my final project for
the "Whitman's Children" class. It was supposed to connect
with Sharon Olds frequent use of cells as in The Gold Cell,
and also based on emotions. It got a lot of laughs from the
class but I don't think anyone outside it will find it as
funny.

I'm supposed to be out of here by May
I'm supposed to be writing, not reading
But it's all tied together, I guess.
Registration says class is cancelled.
That's great.
Could mean two more years
Of picking apart works that I've never heard of.
By now I should know what the Robber Bride steals
Who has the Moonstone, why Falstaff won't leave Hal alone
Where Miss Eyre went for the summer
And how Whitman writes songs about himself.
I'm staring at the screen and class takes over my brain
Picking apart things that probably should stay together
For my own mental health.
