The Tale of Two Lovers
and the Secret World

I was walking through the woods with my love one day as he
was recolecting about all the fun and happy adventures that
he had with his friends in the exact woodland area that we
were wondering through. He talked in such detail that it
made me feel as though I was with him during his youth, even
though we have two years over a decade between us.
As he went on with this happy dazed look across his face
holding my hand with a firm but gentle grip, he explained to
me as we walked along pointing out things that he knew
about from the adventures he had, as if he were back in his
days and I was a friend and he was trying to fill me in so
I could be part of the group of his friends. He was telling
me how before these woods were where his friends and he
hung-out the land and woodland area for miles and miles was
called Nike a huge missle base. As we came up to where the
trees and srubs thined out you could see this huge area
that spread out acrossed the horrizon, that was open and
pathed with cement that was clearly not kept up for there
were trees and weeds growing through the cracks of the
broken cement.
We vered off the path we were on and crossed through this
ditch to get over to the cemented area; it was like crossing
over to a different land. The energy was different from the
path we were on, the air was clear and crisp with a
reenergizing, inspiring,quality to it.
Hand in hand we strolled down the trail, while Joe was
telling me about different places where different things
happened, during weekend parties like where they kept their
coolers and sat around talking, drinking and just having a
good time. He also kept pointing out different things that
aluded to area being an old missle base. Like big covered
man holes, odd and random pipes sticking out of the ground,
and out of place patches of roughly layed cement; as to
cover something up.
Then Joe told me how there use to be water pumps that they
use to use to drink from, as he pointed over in the distance
towards a big dirt mound saying, “There was one over
there,” so we kept on walking this time cutting diagonally
across the open plain in the direction that he pointed in.
As we reached the bottom of the dirt mound that was more
like a packed down hill from all the tire markes that raced
all over the mound, we started to climb, struggling a little
with the the combination of the steepness and the loose dirt
under our feet. We finally got to the top and we were
clearly looking at a race track for dirt bikes and four
wheelers.
Our gazed opened to see the open area with the woods
surounding the circumfrance as to keep this world and it’s
events contained from the outside world. We both turned to
each other in a warm embraces with the setting sun shining
upon us and before us.
As our brace became prolonged, I felt energy from all around
us start flowing through his body and mine; like we were a
circit and our power sources was the world around us. I
wished that that feeling, at that momment would never
end,but it did. The energy that was flowing in that
spiritually, magikal place beconed us to move along.
We started down the dirt hill trying to fight the
gravitational pull, when I noticed we had a small audience,
a man and his two dogs, that just wittness a truly special
momment that my love and I shared.
At that momment I had a thought come drifting through my
mind about the man and his two dogs and what they just
observed. The thought of two stories, two lifes crossing
pass even though it was just for a few minuets, or even if
he kept watching as we went on our way. Gave me a feeling on
how small the world was and how many times people’s lives
pass and what kind of affect it might or might not have on
the other person’s life.
While I was thinking about all these things we walked in
silents while still holding hands; as not to brake the
connection from the warm imbrace a moment earlier, when all
all of the sudden he let go and exclaimed, “There it
is!!” as he rushed off to the left off into a patch of
cement that was invaded by grass and some starting of trees
to an old and broken down water pump. When he reached the
water pumb he looked at me with his soft brown eyes with so
much excitment and happiness for finding this water pump
from his past.
His excitement from spending the day with me, exsploring a
special place from his past, reminded me of a youthful child
just enjoying all that life has to offer and relishing in
the glory of the day. That child that I saw in him reflected
to me the child I use to be and that is still hiding within,
that only he has been able to get to come out and play in
the rising sun of the rest of my life
We journeyed on into the setting sun to find our way back
through the woods to get back to the car. As he menevered us
down diffrent trails turning us left and right, I was pretty
much lost. But with full trust in him it was no time at all
before we were back at the car, when he turned me around
holding me close to him looking in the same direction at the
very end of the sunset as he wispered into my ear “ I love
you hon.” At that momment I was completely melted into him
just like the setting sun melted into the distance world.
