If You Could Read My Mind..., by thndrhwk Subscribe to rss feed for thndrhwk

If you could read my mind,
If you could,
With but a glance
Stare deep into my soul
Would you make sense for me
From the nonsense and confusion and tears and laughter
pouring like rain without clouds from my dreams and old
stories and feel all the dizziness until I don't know which
way is up and...

If you could hear my confessions,
If you read my poetry,
Peeked at my diary
And through the random thoughts
Gossip and phrases in Spanish, Japanese, and Latin
Would you tell me,
Translate for me
The run-on sentences and the ideas that don't stop when my
words end and the motion of my fingers that's nearly as fast
as my thought and yet too slow for me and I'm making no
sense but I can't find an eraser so you'll just have to sit
through it while I fix my gramatical errors and...

If you could hear my voice,
If you could,
Listening to my whispers
In dark empty rooms
Would you listen to me
About white-knuckle pain and fear still unceasing and how
I've kept silent until I can't talk anymore and the chaos is
tearing me apart from the inside and I am so lonely and cold
in the summer when I look at you and know you don't see me,
won't see me and...

If you could read my mind,
If you could,
Even then, would you know what I'm thinking?
Or would it just be a string of abstraction running on and
on until we're both out of breath and you're so far away but
I don't know how to change it or if I can or if I even want
to or what I want, do I know anything, but if you're still
reading this and still hearing then don't you just wonder
why I keep on talking yet I'm saying nothing and...

And so I turn away.
