Beautiful Struggles, by beautifully_broken, by Thoughtless Encounters Subscribe to rss feed for Thoughtless Encounters

A life I didn't like given to me
But nonetheless had to be
Some things I don't remember
Some, the burning out of an ember
Bits and pieces fall into place
While others float out in space
Police, programs, medications
A life filled with complications
By and by the years did go
What was wrong, nobobody did know
Things are better now
Though I'm not sure how
How did I make it through
On the so little that I knew?
All I know is here I am
And I owe it all to them
People who gave up on me not
My well-being they only sought

Now that I'm here all I can say
Is that I'm happy with my life today
I've experienced so many things
And all the joys they have to bring
So many sights that I have seen
Sights you've only seen on a screen
Timeless memories I keep in my head
Like ones some only dream about in bed
I've hiked mountains, swam in springs
I've canoed and rafted, among other things
I've climbed up trees, been swinging in air
So many things some find amazing and rare
I've cut down trees and helped build tents
And all this before thirteen years were spent

I look back and find I am proud
To rid the darkness that used to shroud
So thank you for all who stayed so long
Thank you for helping me realize I'm strong
Because now I truly appreciate the life I was given
And know, for all bad things, I am forgiven.
