Stepping Stones, by XRebzX Subscribe to rss feed for XRebzX

Treading warily along
secluded lights in the distance
unable to reach them
in the dark, so cold
walking on these stepping stones
one wrong step and i'll fall
alone, with a huge duty ahead of me
finding out who i really am
justification for existing
trying to find my confidence
it's somewhere
recognisable and present
everyday seems variant
the journey starts all over again
other things i take notice of
clues to where my confidence is
i've tried to find it inside of me
but it wasn't there
so i'm on the lookout for it
wherever it may be
i can feel better about myself
if only i could reach those lights
in the distance
that may be where it is
instead, i still walk carefully
on these stepping stones
everyday of my life
it's an extensive journey
and walking gingerly along
stuck in this darkness
that i can't escape from
it seems there is only one exit
and i hope i will reach that
one day, somehow
when i do, i'll feel contented
sometimes it feels like i'll never get there
but if i get there, it'll be better
not having to be quiet or shy
i'll no longer drag this weight around with me
and no longer have to tiptoe
on these stepping stones
