there's a yearning in my bones
i know you from a different life
and i'm sure there's time to figure things out
but, for now, nothing is final
there's a way to establish
a way to distinguish
and God knows i want it all to make sense
but you can't make enough sense
out of nothing at all
all that i know is the face beside mine
there's something so certain
beyond disillusion
a predisposition
hidden behind the curtain
pull away the feeling
that's deep in my bones
i know you from somewhere
i've seen you before
let's make waves out of nothing
pretend with the tide
i want to be hurting
to bleed, be alive
let me start a reaction
run it out through your veins
touch me with those cold hands
oh yes, i know that face
recognize civil yearning
coming with territory
and inside every story is something to taste
and maybe i'm just making sense out of reason
maybe it's too late to discover this place
the past locked away
the mystery erased
i'd give it all up to just once be misplaced
lying just out of reach
where the sun doesn't find me
yes, there is a yearning
down deep in my bones
