The Girl In The Mirror, by Lovesick and Sick of It
|
There's that wonderful actress
Her heavy stage make-up only adds to the fact that
She can fool anyone into thinking she's someone she's not
At school, she laughs and smiles
And is everyone's friend
At night, she reahes for the tissues
To clean up her face, to dry her tears
The show's over for the day
She's done acting
She looks in mirror
And sees not the gorgeous, intelligent, humorous girl
everyone claims she is
She doesn't see her role
Instead she sees her true self
A tired, dead-but-still-breathing mess
She wonders why no one's found her out yet
Isn't it obvious that something's wrong?
But no, they see the character.... the lie
Never the actress behind it
So, at last, she falls into a dreamless sleep
To give herself the strength she'll need
For another Oscar-worthy preformance
That she won't be acknoleged for.... |
