My Road Of Life

My Road Of Life My road is very long and full of holes and rocks Wore holes through my soles right down to my socks Along this road are many stages that I act upon On this special road I'm the ugly duck, not the swan At the beginning of this road I played a babe in arms I stuck to my script, babbled and gooed , had baby charms The next script they handed me I played little Orphan Annie I had no ma, no pa, not even an old granny I acted in a few plays where I was married and a mother Some of the scripts even had us love one another Now I'm acting on the last stage I'll be on This last script has me turn into a beautiful swan I was a good actress. Now I get to retire It's what I deserve. It's what I desire As the curtain closes on the last act of my play My skies are not cloudy. My skies are not grey Look at the sun shining through the trees There are none as majestic as these The grass is so green and soft on my feet Though the sun shines hot I feel no heat This last stage I'm on has such a beautiful scene So peaceful, alive and so serene A dirt road winding through a forest green I'm an actress and my name is Kathleen. ©Copyright All Rights Reserved April 7, 2006 Lila May Guptill (AKA) Lunaria
