A Love Poem, by Lovesick and Sick of It
|
I felt like writing a love poem
But where to begin?
Is love
Lust in disguise
Overrated
Vicious &
Evil?
Or is love
Luscious
One of life’s essentials
Vivacious &
Exciting?
Do we know anything about it?
Can we define it?
Is it worth living for?
Is it worth dying for?
To write a love poem
Is like solving a mystery
Using no evidence
You have no real background information, just testimonies
Your only sources are what people have told you
And what you’ve felt.
The feelings mistaken,
The feelings constructed from lies,
The feelings of total happiness,
The feelings of longing, desire
The wishes that one romance would end
So a new one could begin.
And the roller coaster of emotions
Lovers claim to feel
No facts.
Just feelings, wishes, emotions
And the occasional heart-shaped box of chocolate.
So, wherever we begin with love poems
Is the exact place we happen to end.
